Movement is one of the most mentioned self-identified areas of weakness in the average scholastic a cappella group. From claims of “not knowing what to do” with one’s body, to “feeling awkward”, movement on stage should always be an expression and extension of the music. In this session we will explore the essence of physicality in performance, unpack the distinction between blocking and choreography, learn how to analyze a song with an eye for potential movement opportunities, and even choreograph/block a chunk of song together.
